'Carpets' made from marble
The Corinthia Hotel Group awarded Hal Mann International Ltd the Euro 1.3 million contract to carry out works at The Corinthia Hotel, Tripoli Despite fierce competition following an international call for tenders.
The project involved the supply and installation of 7,000m² of 14 types of natural and resin-based agglomerated marbles.
These marble floors will be installed in the hotel’s various public areas including restaurants, reception areas, staircases and the Hotel’s business and conference centre. Of particular interest is the construction of 11 ‘Mosaic Carpets’ - some measuring up to 6 metres by 2 metres. Each ‘carpet’ is hand-made, using several tens of thousands of tiny cubes of different coloured marble blocks to create colourfully striking stone tapestries for the floor!
“It was an honour for us to be associated with the Corinthia Hotel Group. We sincerely believe that the marble works produced in Malta are a worthy reflection of the five-star superior deluxe standards that this Hotell achieves”, Mr. Vella, Hal Mann Group Chairman said.
Mr Vella, who is the Managing Director of Hal Mann International, were speaking to various members of the Board of Directors of the Corinthia Group, including Mr Alfred Pisani, Chairman, who recently visited the various production units at the Hal Mann factory in Lija, where works related to the Hotel project were carried out.
Hal Mann International is a long-established exporter of marble-based products. Notwithstanding, the Corinthia Tripoli Hotel represents the largest single project that the company has ever handled that involves, both the processing of the marbles being used, and their installation on site. 40 of the company’s 220 employees were engaged on this project. Hal Mann has been in business since 1954.
